Stay on Top of Your Benefits Checklist

Enrolling in your Whole Foods Market benefits is easy.  Follow this checklist to make the most of what’s available to you.

Gather your documentation. You must verify your dependents’ eligibility during the enrollment process. Gather your enrolled dependent and beneficiary information.

Enroll in benefits. Within 30 days of your date of hire or status change, go to the Enroll page to make your benefit elections. Eligible Team Members are automatically enrolled in Short Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) benefits, but if you don’t make elections for most other benefits by this deadline, you will not receive coverage and your next opportunity to enroll or make changes will be during Annual Benefits Enrollment in the fall.

Common Questions

Who Can You Cover?

When you enroll, you may also cover your dependents:

  • Your Spouse or Domestic Partner
  • Your Child(ren) up to age 26
  • Domestic Partner’s Child(ren) up to age 26, if your domestic partner is covered

If you cover a dependent, you must verify their eligibility when you enroll. See the Eligibility section of the Benefits Guide for complete details.

When Will Benefits Start?

You have 30 days from your date of hire or eligibility date to enroll. Your benefits will begin on the first day of the month after working 60 days at Whole Foods Market.

What Are My Options?

In addition to the comprehensive plan options that require enrollment, Whole Foods Market provides many programs to support your wellness journey. Eligibility for the medical and dental plans is based on your home zip code. See the Benefits Guide for more details.

Physical Health

Medical & Prescription Drug Coverage

WFM offers comprehensive medical plans to meet the needs of our Team Members. Eligibility for the medical plans is determined by your home ZIP code based on the address we have on file in Workday. All medical plans include no-cost preventive care, prescription drug coverage, and access to virtual doctor visits. See the Benefits Guide for additional details.

Health Care Funding Accounts

When you enroll in the National Choice or Whole Health Plan, you have the choice of two Health Care Funding Accounts—Health Savings Account (HSA) or Personal Wellness Account (PWA) to pair with your medical coverage. Whole Foods Market makes a yearly contribution to help you pay for health care expenses and cover a portion of your annual deductible.

Dental

Our dental plans offered through Cigna cover preventive care at 100% with no deductible. Coverage for basic, major and orthodontic services varies according to the plan.

Vision

Our vision plan offered through VSP provides comprehensive care for annual eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses.

Tobacco Cessation Program

Our Quit for Life tobacco cessation program helps Team Members who want to kick the tobacco and nicotine habit by providing the knowledge, skills and behavioral strategies to quit—and all at no cost.

Healthy Retreats

You can apply to attend our Healthy Retreats life-changing wellness retreat, which includes a year of follow-up care to help you create and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition Programming

We are passionate about food for many reasons and believe that when you eat better, you feel better. Our team has healthy-eating and nutrition education that takes a preventive approach to your overall wellness.

Mental Well-being

Team Member Assistance Program

When you take time to take care of your mental health in small ways each day, you have the resources to weather life’s challenges.

All Team Members and their dependents have access to the Team Member Assistance Program (TMAP) that includes 24/7 on-demand, confidential access to mental healthcare, crisis support, and work-life services through Headspace, our mental well-being partner.

401(k) and Employer Matching Contributions

From the first day you start work at Whole Foods Market, you’re eligible to contribute to the Whole Foods Market Growing Your Future 401(k) Plan administered by Fidelity Investments. You can contribute some of your pay on a pre or post-tax basis (subject to IRS limits) and Whole Foods Market will match a portion of what you save, subject to Plan matching and vesting schedules.

Eligible Team Members will be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan after 90 days of employment at a 2% deferral percentage.
